This past Tuesday we were playing at McKoy park in Oakhurst with our playgroup friends. Grayson, adventurous as always, was climbing a play structure (his feet were about 4 feet off the ground) when he slipped and fell. His screams were unlike any I'd heard from him before, and they didn't stop or soften after a few minutes like usual. His arm hurt badly, and it was already starting to swell around his wrist. My friends called our pediatrician who said we should go straight to the ER for an x-ray, and helped us into our car. Grayson continued to cry hard the entire way to the ER. He would calm down for a few seconds to talk about school that day (my attempt to calm him) but then he'd start crying again, hard. Max was such a good toddler throughout the event - just watching but not fussing or demanding any attention. As we walked into the ER Grayson's sobs ended and he became very calm and rational. Tony met us there, which I know helped to calm him. I almost began to wonder if anything was really wrong. But it was. The x-ray showed a "buckle" fracture to the radius, just above the wrist. It's an easy break to heal. He'll just be in a cast for 3 weeks. This morning we went to the pediatric orthopedic office to have his temporary splint replaced with a fiberglass cast. Grayson requested an orange & blue cast, because next Saturday he'll be at the Orange & Blue (pre-season) Gator football game with his Daddy and grandparents!

Mia was very nice. Usually kids get a cast in just one color, but when she heard about the game next week she said she'd "hook us up" with a two-colored cast. First the orange went on.
Then the blue. Go Gators!

GRAYSON'S CAST ROCKS! And Max is just a beautiful kid. Love the wispy curls.
